The Bishop of the United Methodist Church in Nigeria and the Mission Districts Of Cameroon and Senegal Ande Emmanuel, has led a delegation of Church leaders from the Nigeria Episcopal Area to a District Conference in the Mission District of Cameroon, in the Republic of Cameroon Central Africa.
The District Conference began from January 29 to February 01 with an opening worship and prayers at the United Methodist Church “Carmel” Meyos Yaounde, which was officiated by Bishop Emmanuel.
The Bishop also launched the Theological Education Endowment Fund for the Mission District of Cameroon, which marks a milestone for the growth of the church in the Republic of Cameroon.
The launched Theological Education Endowment Fund is an initiative of the General Board Of Global Ministries, and the General Board Of Higher Education Ministry, in collaboration with the Council Of Bishops of the United Methodist Church, to support the educational training of clergy.
The Endowment Fund targets special offerrings in the local churches, to support five hundred (500) students annually, to prepare for Pastoral ministry across Africa, Europe and the Philippines.
All funds raised at the launching will be sent to the global church’s coffers to support the Theological training of pastors. Bishop Ande Emmanuel called on members of the United Methodist Church to donate generously to the cause of the Theological Endowment Fund ” so as to raise sound and educated pastors”.
The District Conference in Cameroon also featured ministerial session presided by the Bishop, where ministerial issues, evaluation, challenges, and future goals for sustainable missions were discussed.
The laity session of the Conference accorded the church’s congregation a platform to discuss and take decisions to shape the future of the United Methodist Church in Cameroon.
Bishop Ande Emmanuel also officiated the ordination of three(3) elders, eight(8) deacons, seventeen (17) Licensed Local Pastors, and twenty-seven (27) Lay Preachers.
The ordination is expected to strengthen the clergy in the Mission Districts Of Cameroon.
