The United Methodist Church Nigeria Episcopal Area has commenced the construction of a new healthcare facility in Bansuwe, Iware District of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State, as part of efforts to improve access to quality medical services in rural communities.

The project was officially flagged off on 30th May 2026 with a groundbreaking ceremony performed by the Resident Bishop of the Nigeria Episcopal Area, Ande I. Emmanuel.

Speaking at the ceremony, the wife of pastor incharge Mrs Boniface Markus described the project as a significant milestone in the church’s mission of providing holistic care to communities through both spiritual and social development initiatives.

According to the church, the proposed United Methodist Clinic will serve as a healthcare hub for residents of Bansuwe and surrounding communities, including Tau, Garin Garba, Garin Seni, Sambon Layi, Korkaye and Garin Chindo, many of whom currently travel for about one hour and fifteen minutes to access medical services.

The church said the decision to locate the facility in Bansuwe was based on the urgent need for healthcare infrastructure within the area and its strategic position to serve neighbouring communities.

The project is in line with the healthcare vision of Bishop Emmanuel, which targets the construction of at least two clinics in each of the five Annual Conferences within the UMC Nigeria Episcopal Area.

Rev. Gloria Iliya Dogara the South West Conference Administrative assistant to Bishop Ande Emmanuel noted that the initiative underscores the United Methodist Church’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and improving the wellbeing of underserved populations across the country.

Rev Markus D. Jauro the District Superintendents for Iware District expressed optimism that the clinic, when completed, would significantly reduce healthcare challenges faced by residents of the affected communities and contribute to improved health outcomes in the area.

We therefore call on our church, called on members, partners and well-wishers to support the project through the Nigeria Undersigned Advance Project: 00383A. #00383A
